(Almost) Everything You Need to Know about Preschool
Where do I drop my child off and pick him up?
We will use the North West doors at Washington Discovery Academy. Behind Dairy Queen is a drive that will take you to the North West doors. Whey you pick up and drop off your child, please get out of the car to meet them. If someone, other than yourself, will be picking up your child please call or send a note. What are class times? The morning class is from 8:30-11:00 while the afternoon class is from 12:15-2:45. Please do not drop your child off more than 5 minutes early. Also, please be prompt when picking them up. If you are running late please call the office, 936-4072. Will there be snack provided? We will offer a snack each day for the students. Starting in September we will be sending home a snack schedule. If you are willing to help by providing a snack once a month, it would be appreciated. Please remember that our school follows the Wellness Program, so healthy snacks are encouraged. Examples would be crackers and cheese, fruit, graham crackers, goldfish and pretzels. What if there is a school delay or closing? For the safety of our preschoolers, our policy is to follow both Plymouth School Corporation and your home school corporation for delays and closings. If Plymouth is closed, classes will be cancelled. If we have a delay the AM class will be cancelled. Medication? All medication must be brought to the school nurse with a doctor's order of dosage, time, etc. Change of Clothes? Even if your child has mastered the art of pottying, he/she will still need a complete set of seasonally appropriate change of clothes. The world of preschool is often messy ad an unpredictable place full of mud puddles and milk spills! We strongly urge you to label all clothing that comes to school. Change in Schedule? When your child's schedule varies from the norm, please be sure to keep us informed. In addition, we want to include your child in as many of our activities as possible and with advance notice we may be able to adjust our schedule so that your child won't miss our on fun activities. Parent/Teacher Communication It is on of our highest priorities to help your child cope with potentially stressful situations. We rely on good parent/teacher communication to accomplish this goal. Whenever possible please let us know about changes in your family life. Moving to a new house, mom or dad going out of town, the death of a pet, visiting relatives and major schedule changes can be stressful occurrences in a child's life. If you can alert us to these new situations, we will better be able to help your child work through them. Items from Home Children are always welcome to bring in items from home on our show and tell days. We has that toys from home stay at home except on show and tell days. |
